Middle Eastern Perspectives

Attendance at the Herzliya Conference, or “Herzlia” as some pronounce it, is seen as a new station in exploring and understanding the spectra of Israeli politics and Israelis, as well as others who attended or participated in its sessions. Investigation was the key to all discussions to understand the details of recent approaches towards the (Chinese/American) region and the potential transformations it may produce in the regional balances. Despite the diversity of Israeli perspectives, their security concern remains the primary driving and governing force for their regional outlook, followed by the development of what the Abraham Accords have established. The third is achieving “normalization” with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which is manifested in their urging of the American ally to leverage all its political weight with Riyadh to achieve that. Despite the absence of accounting for the costs or consequences of such an approach from the Israeli side, or understanding and comprehending Riyadh’s priorities from its Saudi and Islamic perspective, the second driving force is the unstable political situation in Israel, which “repels” any possibility of such rapprochement.

Frank Tetzel is a seasoned expert in journalism, industrie transformation and sustainable development. Since 2001, he has led Image Network, offering editorial and consulting services for newspapers, magazines, and online products in sectors such as economy, mobility, renewable energy, healthcare, foreign policy, politics, diplomacy, and travel & lifestyle. In 2009, Tetzel took on the roles of Editor-in-Chief and Political Advisor at Image Network, where he supports companies and institutions in the pre-political and political arena.

Additionally, since 2022, he has served as Director at Coal to Renewable Ltd. in Johannesburg, promoting the transition from coal to renewable energy in Africa. Tetzel is also the Director of the African Sustainable Tourism Organization (ASTO) and founded the African Tourism Council in 2020 to advance sustainable tourism in Africa. Since 2014, he has been the Editor-in-Chief of FAIReconomics, a platform focused on sustainable economy, science and society. He holds a degree in social and economic history and political science from the University of Hamburg and is fluent in English and Spanish. Tetzel is actively involved in several voluntary roles, including as Managing Director of the Carl Duisberg Society and Chair of the Committee for Raw Materials Management and Security at BWA Germany.

Mustapha Ezzarghani

Mr. Mustapha Ezzarghani is the founder and president of the Moroccan-Israeli Friendship Association (MIFA), an American organization that promotes the fostering of ties between the Kingdom of Morocco and the state of Israel. Since MIFA’s establishment in 2020, Ezzarghani has led multiple initiatives to strengthen economic and educational ties between the two countries at the grassroots level. These have included: hosting Israeli businesspeople in Morocco and facilitating meetings between them and the Moroccan government and leaders in the private sector, particularly in the fields of industry and agriculture; organizing and facilitating meetings with Israeli businesspeople to outline investment opportunities in Morocco; setting up meetings between the Shalom Hartman Institute and the Moroccan Ministry of Higher Education to create a Muslim Leaders Initiative (MLI) within Morocco; and working with the Ministry of Education in the region of Marrkech Asfi to create coexistence clubs in Moroccan public middle and high schools to teach students about the rich culture of Judaism in Morocco. Ezzarghani was born in Marrakech and worked in local politics until his early 20s. In 2013, Ezzarghani co-organized the country’s first interfaith dialogue conference in partnership with the United States Peace Corps and the United States Embassy. He moved to the United States in 2014 and currently resides in Athens, GA.

Ghanem Noseibeh

Ghanem Nuseibeh is a London based businessman and founder of Cornerstone Global Associates, London based strategy and management consultancy. He is chairman of UK-based charity Muslims Against Antisemitism.

He belongs to Jerusalem’s oldest Muslim family. Ghanem is a keen and active supporter of interfaith dialogue both in Britain and in the Middle East. As a student, he headed a country-wide interfaith student group that aimed to bring together Jewish, Christian and Muslim students. In 2003, he became patron and is currently trustee of the British Friends of Neve Shalom Wahat Al Salam (NSWAS), a village in Israel that supports Arab-Jewish coexistence. In 2018, he was invited to become a patron of Faith Matters. After completing his schooling in Jerusalem and at London’s Dulwich College, Ghanem graduated from Imperial College London. He was a Senior Visiting Fellow at King’s College London and formerly Edmond J Safra Fellow at Harvard University’s Center for Ethics. Ghanem regularly writes and comments about Middle East related issues in global media. He has homes in London, Jerusalem and Dubai.

Hind Al Aissi

Hind Al Aissi is a lawyer admitted in New York and Paris and an alumni of Columbia Law School. She is fluent in French, Arabic, English and Spanish. Hind is involved in global investigations and international dispute resolution cases before different forums and has gained experience in leading international law firms in Casablanca, New York and Paris.

As an attorney from the MENA region, Hind is eager to contribute to initiatives and pro-bono projects centered on peacebuilding by the rule of law.

Eli Bar-On

He served in various senior legal positions in the Israeli government. He was also a professor at the Israel National Defense College, with a focus on matters of national security, strategy, and international relations.

Eli has provided expert presentations to high-level delegations throughout the world. He also led strategic international dialogues and lectured at preeminent academic institutions around the world.

Eli has a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree and an Executive Master of Business Administration (E.M.B.A.) degree (cum laude) from Tel Aviv University and a Master’s degree in Political Science (M.A.) (cum laude) from Haifa University.

Ambassador Salwa Dallalah

As a distinguished career diplomat and international civil servant with over 30 years of experience, Ambassador Salwa Dallalah brings a wealth of expertise and knowledge from her roles with the government of Sudan, the UNFCCC, and the IAEA. Educated in law and politics at Oxford Polytechnic and furthering her studies with a master’s in African and Asian studies from the University of Khartoum, Ms. Dallalah has been instrumental in numerous international negotiations and forums, representing her government with distinction. From 1997 to 2020, she served as the lead organizer for 18 COP events on behalf of the UNFCCC, including pivotal gatherings such as Kyoto conference and COP21 in Paris, where she played a crucial role in supporting efforts for addressing the urgent challenge of climate change. Additionally, her contributions to the IAEA’s general conferences and scientific forums have advanced the peaceful applications of atomic energy worldwide. Ms. Dallalah’s extensive experience has seen her collaborate closely with governments across Africa, Asia, Europe, North and Latin America as well as the Caribbean, fostering partnerships and promoting global cooperation. Currently, she channels her expertise into supporting projects in event management, coaching, human resources, and mentorship for young professionals from developing countries.
